Arbor press history

Founded in 1943, Weidmann originally supplied products for the mechanical engineering industry but started to make their own mechanical presses in 1950. Today, Weidmann produce a range of innovative presses that feature ground bearing points that withstand pressure and operate with force-feed lubrication. Uses and applications of the arbor press

Weidmann arbor presses are used for broaching metals, straightening, metal pressing, bending, and punching on an assembly line floor or in smaller workshops. They can also be used for embossing metals and are most often used in the manufacturing industry to shape metal materials, under pressure. Tasks such as staking, riveting, installing, configuring/ removing bearings are commonly performed using an arbor press and presses are rated based on the maximum load applied.

Types of arbor press

Depending on your unique preferences, many type of presses are available. Junior presses are lightweight 1.5 tonne presses constructed from high quality steel with durable spindles and spline shafts for small workshops and basic metal work. HWP5 presses are compact 5-tonne presses. Their compact design makes them ideal for smaller spaces and applications that need a heavier pressure. EP5 presses are 5-tonne presses with a more robust build, a larger height range and bigger capacity. An innovation, the MV5 presses are 5-tonne presses that feature adjustable tables. This revolutionary table drive achieves superior inside heights because it is not hampered by a lifting spindle. Large stands, broad guides and clever clamp design guarantee very minimal lifting under heavy loads.

All 5-tonne presses generate pressure of 5000 kg, make use of sturdy drives with a gear ratio of 1:100 and feature adjustable brakes to prevent spindle problems. Hardened insert punches are supplied on demand and star handle or ring hand wheel designs are also available. Arbor presses can be purchased in standard green but other colours can be supplied if preferred.
